Early Life and Musical Roots
Parker Yancey McCollum, born on June 15, 1992, grew up in both Conroe and Teague, Texas. During summer breaks, he helped out at his grandfather’s cattle ranch. His older brother got him into Texas music by introducing him to folks like Robert Earl Keen, Pat Green, and James McMurtry. This inspiration led young Parker to learn violin as a kid and write his own tunes on guitar from age 13 onward.
Independent Rise in Texas
After graduating high school, McCollum relocated to Austin, Texas, to immerse himself in the live music scene. He founded his own independent label, PYM Music, and released his debut EP and single in 2013. On February 24, 2015, he released his debut full-length album, The Limestone Kid, which received critical acclaim. In 2019, McCollum inked a deal with Universal Music Group.
